Why Revisionist Historians are Wrong
Why is this Site Named for a Mountain Range?
On January 14, 1864, a new building under construction would later become a drugstore known as Rank's Drugs. Its walls were up, and a crossbeam held them in place, but it had as yet no rafters or roof.

Early that morning the Vigilantes surrounded the town and arrested seven men. They had another man on their list, but by crawling through a drainage ditch, Ed Hunter managed to escape. (Not for long, though. They caught up with him later in January and hanged him, too.)
After reviewing the evidence against their prisoners, as told in God's Thunderbolt, they released two of the men and walked the others up Wallace Street to the unfinished building.
There they hanged all five, side by side, from the crossbeam.
